CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the Corn Exchange report (per G. S. Hickman, secretary) for the week ending April 29 :— The week has been uneventful as regards the grain market. Wheat is still coming forward freely and last week's prices are firmly maintained and commands buyers' attention for filling up Home vessels on berth ; but farmers are wanting more than offered, and in the meantime are storing. Chickwheat, clean and dry, fetches good money. Oats, milling and good short feed fit for shipping, are in good demand, but inferior sorts are dull. Long Tartars for seed have had plenty of inquiry, but the season will soon be past for this year. Malting barley is in request for prime lines, but medium quality is not so much sought after, indeed many malsters now are only operating on prime. The grass seed sowing season is about past, consequently prices are not so firm.
