HAWEA.
September 26.— The annual concert in connection with the HaweaSchool.took place on Friday, September 23, and was a pronounced success. There was a fair attendance, and (Sacli item contributed, from the overture to "the National Anthem, was well received, tne ,a\idience testifying by their hearty applause their- thorough satisfaction with the bill of fare provided for their entertainment. Tho overture to the Pirates of Penzauce" opened the concert, and was delivered spiritedly and with precison by . Messrs Hogau and Saville. This was followed by^the. action song, " Here we stand," by the 'school; children, which was a marvel of , graceful . gesticulation and tuneful song, reflecting great credit upon Miss M. Green, the teacher, who may btf congratulated on having awakened in her pupils in3tinctshitherto allowed to slumber. There wdre a large number of items on the programme, and most of the performers acquitted themselves well, and received the hearty acknowledgments of the audience. The National Anthem satisfactorily completed the concert programme. - Dancing followed, with Mr F. Urquhart as M.C., music being* supplied by Messrs A. Frcwen, Perry, Mathie'sony Connor, and others, and not till "rosy dawn did the company separate, highly pleased, with everything that had been arranged and carried out for their amusement.
