FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.

Thos. Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report on August 24 :— Fmit.— Market fairly supplied. Small shipments of apples came forward this week, and market firm. Apples : Canterbury, 5s to 6s 6d ; Hobart F.C., 7s Od to 8s 6d ; S P., S.T.P., and N.Y.P., 7s to 83 ; Scarlet Pearmains— large Us 6"d, medium 7s to 8s 6d. Oranges : Sydney, 6s 6d to 7 6d ; Tahiti, 8s 6d ; Whangarei, 103. Lemons, 13s to 15s ; Sevilles, 83 6d to 10s. Pineapples, 14s to 16s per case. Bananas (scarce), 2id. Cocoanuts, 9s. Peanuts, 2id (scarce). We took into store this week 50 cases D.E. oranges, 100 do Sydney, 20 do Sevilles, 20 do lemons, 65 do apples. We are landing, ex steamer from Sydney, on Monday next, a large shipment of fruit, consisting of Sevilles, oranges, lemons, pines, mandarins, and passion fruit, and can supply any orders sent promptly in full and at lowest market rates. Produce.— Eggs plentiful and falling. Fresh butter, 9d to lid; salt has little demand, 9d to lOd for good ; inferior difficult to place. Cheese in good supply, 3d to 4d for Akaroa; factory, 4jd to sd. Bacon : Roll, sid to 61d. Hams, 7id to Bd. Pigs scarce and wanted, 3sd to 4d. Honey, 4Jd. Beeswax, Is Id. Potatoes, 20s to 30s. Carrots, 20s to 22s 6d. Onions (glutted), L2ss to L3 los. Poultry has good demand at full rates. Consignments of all descriptions of farm and dairy produce received for sale on commission.
