From Blenheim— Mr Heal. From Westport— Messrs Smith and Prince. Hobaut, August 19. — The Arawa arrived at ' 1 o'clock this afternoon and sails at 11 to-morrow morning for Wellington. She brings 45 passengers for Australia and 96 for New Zealand. The Rimutaka left Plymouth on the 21st inst. for Port Chalmers, via the Cape and Hobart. Captain Greenstreet is in commaud The number of shipping casualties reported at Lloyd's during the week ending Wednesday, June 18, was 13, 6 of which were to sailing vessels and 7 to steamers, 1 of the former and 5 of the latter being British. For the corresponding week of last year the number was 23, 13 being to sailing ships and 10 to steamers. For the # year to date, the number of casualties reported is 777, as compared with 840 in the corresponding period of last year. Captain Stott, of the Rotorua, has resigned, and left for Melbourne on Tuesday en route for England to take command of the Miowera, one of the new steamers of the New Zealand and Australian Steamship Company. It is expected the Miowera will Fail from London for the colonies iv October. Captain Mannine, of the Mawhera, takes the Rotorua. while Captain Black takes temporary commaud of the Mawhera.
