ALLEGED MISAPPROPRIATION OP TRUST FUNDS.

Timaru, Augußt 17. Judge Ward has been occupied nearly two days over the public examination of D. M. Ross and W. M. Sims, commission agents, bankrupts. Ross was in tho box about 12 hours in all. The inquiry disclosed that ho had for years used for his own purposes moneys entrusted to him and the firm for investment on mortgage, and that false statements were made to the owners of the money as to its whereabouts. Somo, after asking frequently for a specified investment, if not immediately so applied was banked to the firm's current account. This was nearly always heavily overdrawn, and once in those sums referred to never came out again, the firm paying interest on them. Some large sums were absorbed in this way. Sims swears he knew very little of these things, and Ross admits he didn't. The cases were adjourned till the 30th, a charge to be formulated in the meantime.
