CONCERT AT HYDE.
The concert in Hyde on St. Patrick's Day (writes our Palmerston correspondent) was a great success, the house being crowded in every part, notwithstanding the constant downpour of rain all day. Mrs and Mr Browne came all the way from Naseby to give their services, and their singing and playing charmed the audience. Miss Rennay and Mr James Jago gave a vocal duet, " Huntingtower," in faultless style, and in response to an encore rendered a duet from "Maritana." Mr Orr's rendering of Thalberg's " Home, sweet home " was faultless, and the same may be said of Miss Rennay's "Selection of Irish airs," for which she was encored. Mrs and Mr Browne's " A B Cduet" was one of the best items of the evening. Messrs Hogg and Edward's violin and piano duet, "Marcheaux flambeaux," was a great treat. The other ladies and gentlewhp assisted were Mrs Arthur, Miss Ellen A. Annett, the Misses Fowler, and Mr Charles Meade, ■\Vho were all successful. Mr William Hally, Archibald Gray, and Mr Daniel Kinney decoratedthe schoolroom in a picturesque style with, ferns and holly. Mr Dixon filled the chair, and in a neat speech explained that the object of the concert was to pay for an acre of land which their' esteemed minister, the Rev. Father Donnelly, bad purchased with a view to building "a church on. Father Donnelly thanked the 'ladies and gentlemen for the great treat they gave the audience. A vote of thanks to the chairman and "God save the Queen" terminated the proceedings." „
