A young man named Wm, E. Brown was charged at Auckland on Friday with having stolen a watch and chain from his father, who himself had laid the information against him. The father said the son had fallen into bad company and had given him a good deal of trouble, but as the youth had promised to mend his ways, and had asked him to lock him up at night so that he would not get out to his evil companions, he wished to be permitted to withdraw the case. The bench allowed the case to be withdrawn.
