Store Cattle. — The following business has been done-.— Thb Nkw Zealand Loan and Mbboantilb Agbno? Company (Limited) sold privately during the week 120 head, three and four-year-old bullooks, at quotations.— Bbid, Maclban, and Co. report having sold 50 head of bullooks and speyed heifers at a satisfactory price, also 70 two-year-olds (mixed sexes) at current rates. Store Sheep.— Bbid, Maclean, and Co. report the sale of ; several small lines, of hoggets and fourtooth wethers, also of a line of shorn two-tooths for delivery off the shears. Country Sales.— Thb Nkw Zealand Loan and Mercantile agency Company (Limited ) held a sale on Friday, the 30th ult., at the Crown Yards, Balolutha, when there was a very good attendance of both sellers and buyers, including a number of country settlers and others interested. The entry was not a very large one, but for all offered a very satisfactory demand was experienced, and sold 150 orossbred wethers at -12s lid. 350 do at 13s 3d, and about 480 do at 14s 6d ; also, 253 crossbred hoggets at 12s 9d, and 300 orossbred wethers and maiden ewes (fat) at 16s 6d ; besides, about 40 fat bullooks at current rate*.— On Thursday, Ootober 2j9th, Bxtd, Maclban, and Co. held their usual fortnightly sale at the Milton

yards. The supply of stock was smaller than was anticipated, owing to one or two lines of sheep entered not coming forward. There was, however, a large attendance of farmers who were evidently in want of sheep, and the few lots submitted found buyers at satisfactory prices. Mixed crestbreds in forward condition brought 14s lOd; extra good hoggets, 14s 3d ; dairy cows to £5. . Babbitskins.— At the usual weekly sales only moderate catalogues v» ere mbmltted to a full attendance of buyers, when lait week's prices could not be improved on. Best winters sold up to 17d. Sheepskins.— For these the strong demand still exists. Full catalogues were submitted on Tuesday last, and all lots offered met with ready sales at a slight advance on last week's quotation*. Butchers' Kreen crossbred* brought 7s, 6s Bd. 6s 4d, 6s, 5s lOd, 5s 7d, 5s 6d, 5i 4d, 5s 3d, ss, 4s lOd, 4s Bd, and 4i 6d ; do merino, 4s Bd, 4s 6d, 4s 44, 4s 2d, 4«, 3s od, and 3s 6d ; country dry orostbreds, inferior to medium, 2t to 4s ; do do merino. Is lOd to 3i 9d ; full woolled crossbreds, 4s 3d to 6s lOd ; do do merino 4s Id to 6s 2d. Hides.— This market is steady, with no alteration in values. Well flayed ox hides, 691b or over, are worth up to 3d; medium weights, 2d to 24d; light and inferior, ljd to lfd; damaged and slippy, id to Ijd per lb. Tallow.— ln this market also there is no alteration. Arrivals limited. Lait week's quotations may be repeated. Best rendered mutton, ready for shipment, 19s to 21s; medium, 17s to 18s; inferior, 15s to 16s ; rough fat, 10s to 14s. Grain.— Wheat: This market is firm. There is a fair amount of business being done at the following quotations : -Prime milling, 4s lOdto ss; medium, 4s 7d to 4s 9d; broken, 4s Id to 4s 6d; fowl wheat, 3s 6d to 4s. Oats : A better demand now exists. Best milling may be quoted Is 6Jd to Is 7d ; bright feed. Is 6d to Is 6Jd ; discoloured and inferior, Is 4d to Is s§d. Barley : There is nothing being done in this line. Potatoes.— Owing to the small supply ooming into stores last week stocks on hand are being slowly reduced at— For fresh pioked, 25s to 30s ; others, 15s to 20s per ton.
