The Waipawa County Council intend to ask the members for the Hawke's Bay provincial di&trict to support a measure taxing Native hnds in aid of local revenue. Blr Justice Denniaton on Tuesday refused to grant a discharge to a labouring man who showed liabilities to butcher, baker, &(\, to the amount of £53, and assets ml. His Honor declared that such an attempt to get lid of liabilities was not honest, and that the Bankruptcy Court was not ißtended to assist raeu of that kind to wipe out their debts aud retain their only asset — their labour.
