The Nenthorn Prospectors Company's Huntington Roller Mills. (By Our Special Reporter.)

Nbnthorn, September 3. There having been a considerable amount of discussion in the Daily Times and Witness anent the relative merits of rollers v. stampers, an impartial exposition of the advantages of the former will be received with some degree of satisfaction. The Prospectors' Company, Henthorn, being the first to adopt the Huntington Holler Mill, is deserving of much praise for the enterprise displayed, and the trial of the machine on Saturday proved that the company have done the mining industry a service, the value of which can scarcely be over-estimated. Stated briefly, the advantages claimed for the roller mill are that it can be erecten In eight days, ready for crushing, as was done at the Prospectors' claim; that the whole weight of the machine amounts to only four tone ; that it can be driven with one-third leas horse power than a 10-head stamper battery ; that the wear and tear of the machine is covered by say- £35 per annum; that it puts through 15 tons of bard etone in 24 hours, or quite as much as most 10-stamper batteries. The machine worked splendidly from the moment it was started, and having seen it erected and working in Dunedin under great disadvantages, I can speak authoritatively on the superior work dor.c by the mill when fixed on a solid foundation. Amongst those present to witness the starting of the machine were a large number of practical men, all of whom expressed themselves highly pleased with the working of the mill, and did not hesitate to give it as their opinion that the Huntington Roller Mill far supersedes ordinary stamper crushing plant for the reduction of quartz. Ths mill erected at the Prospectors' claim is the one shown in Dunedin, and is the smallest size made.
