(Gladbrook), 30 pure polled Angus heifers at a satisfactory price for export. Store Cattle. -The demand for these is rather weak, and not likely to improve before supplies are required for fattening on turnips; and these, in many localities, do not at present give promise of heavy crops. This, considered with the low price realised for fat stock, gives but little encouragement in the meantime to operate. Store Sheep.— There is a considerable amount of inquiry, and full lists are now presented, but the business done is unimportant ; the demand is mostly for young sheep of both sexes, crossbred and merino, chiefly the former. Buyers, however, continue reticent, considering prices asked by holders rather high when compared with those now obtaining for fat sheep at the weekly market. Sheepskins.— There was a very full attendance of ; buyers on Monday at the weekly sales, when good ■ catalogues of butchers' green and country dry skins were offered, all of which were in good demand, especially green crossbred pelts, which were keenly competed for. Country dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought Is to 3s 3d ; do do merino, lid to 2s lOd ; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 3s 6d to 6s Id ; do do merino, 3s to 4s 2d ; dry pelts, 2d to 8d ; butchers' green pelts, 12d, 13d, 14d, 15d; lambskins, Is lOd, Is lid, 2s, 2s Id. Babbitskinß.— The market in the meantime, owing to the absence of suitable lots for disposal, is necessarily quiet. There are buyers for all offering, but consignments are extremely small and the quality indifferent. Hides.— A steady demand continues to exist, all coming to hand being easily disposed of, but without auy improvement in values, which remain as bftfore— viz., for inferior and bulls, l§d to 2d ; light, 2|d to 2fd ; medium, 3d to 3Jd ; heavy weights and faultlesß condition, 3Jd to 4d per lb. Tallow.— We have no alteration to report in the tone of the market, which continues fairly active. Local manufacturers purchase freely at the following quotations, viz :— Inferior and mixed, 10s to 14s ; medium to good, 14s 6d to 16s 6d ; prime mutton, 178 to 18s (but very little of the latter quality in the market) ; rough fat — inferior, 6a to 7s tid; medium to good, 8s to 10s ; best caul, fresh and clean, 10s 6d tolls per cwt. Grain. — Wheat : The market shows no sign of any improvement; indeed, the tendency is towards lower prices. Millers are operating with reserve, and Bhow indisposition to purchase except when in need of special descriptions for immediate requirements. Extra good white velvet can be placed occasionally for mixing. Other sorts are offering freely, but very few sales are effected. Prime milling Tuscan and velvet, 3s 6d to 3s 7d (extra good a shade more) ; medium to good, 3s Id to 3s 3d ; inferior and fowls' wheat, 2s 6d to 3s (ex store). Oats: The demand existing lately has somewhat subsided, and very few inquiries for any eort noticeable. Old stocks, however, are almost cleared out, and only a very few coming forward ; still we can hardly hold out any hope of prices improving while the new crop is so near at hand. Stout brignt milling, Is 8d to Is B§d (extra good a Bhade more) ; best bright short , feed, Is 7§<l to Is 8d ; medium, Is 7d to Is 7§d ; inferior to medium, Is to Is 6d (ex store). Barley. There is nothing passing in this, and no business will be done until the new crop comes to hand. Quotations nominal.
