AUCKLAND.
1 THAMES. Yields for the week: New Eureka (Otunui), 620z Bdwt; Adelaide "(Karaka), 430z sdwt; Moanataiari, 50oz. Caledonian. —The stuff from Richard's leader is shaping from 3oz to 4oz to the load. Auckland (Karaka Creek).—l2oz 3dwt gold, 4oz of which came from three loads general dirt and the balance from 301b picked stone. The lode, which is being driven in both directions, has now been opened up for nearly 50 feet. It varies from a few inches to 15 inches, and gold is seen pretty freely when parallel with where good gold was obtained in the Lucky Hit reef in the^early days. Prospecting for that lode will be commenced. Thames Golden Crown. —l2s tons of quartz yielded 87oz lOdwt gold. There is nothing fresh in the mine. The f ace of Rickard's lode in the Caledonian is only 60 feet from the Golden Crown boundary. Two crushings yielded 7oz to the load respectively. Paroquet (Waiomo). —A crushing of 28 tons yielded the excellent return of lOloz retorted gold. KABANGAHAKE. Monastery. —The work of prospecting in this claim has so far disclosed what, judging by appearances aad tests, should be a valuable run of j gold and silver. The stone coming to ihand daily shows the precious metal pretty freely. Railley's Reduction Works. —The past week [ of fine weather enabled the manager to place ' the heavy parts of the machinery on the site. The water race is progressing rapidly towards completion, and Mr Railley hopes to start crushing early in September. 1 I 1
