Problem 568. The above Problem, which was published on Aug. 6, has been correctly solved by G. Foreman, Dunedin; and W L Crookston, Roxburgh. We have received incorrect solutions from J E, Kakanui; A M'K, Pukerau; TA, Edendale; WF, Lumsden; V P, Mosgiel; T L and Tubal Cain, Ngapara; R M, Mount Hutt, Canterbury; and J A S, South Wyndham. Strange to say these players have fallen into the very error of the author, 1 as it can be drawn if White's second move is not made correctly. Please try something else for 23 18, and send solutions promptly. JA S, South Wyndham. —We • are glad to hear that Sandy's letters have awakened fresh interest. J S, Invercargill. —We are equally surprised with yourself at not hearing from Mr James Paterson, champion of Australia, long before this re our acceptance on behalf of a New Zealand player of his challenge to play a match for a stake. Our acceptance was published in the Otago Witness of June 18, but perhaps he may be waiting to get a few lessons from " Wyllie " before entering the lists. V P, Mosgiel; W F, Lumsden; and R M, Mount Hutt. —You have numbered the board from the White instead of the Black side. Kindly look at diagram in last week's issue. T Menzies, Christchurch.—Many thanks for long and interesting letter. The .promised games shall be most welcome. R Given, Melbourne.—Your letter enclosing games much appreciated. Have written you and sent Witness as desired. W L Crookston, Roxburgh. —Pleased to hear from you again. Hope to do so frequently.
