The half-hearly meeting of the above Order was held in the court-room, St. Andrew's Hall, Oamaru, on Friday. There were present — D.C.R. Bro. W. Norman, D.S.C.R. Bro. C. Wil!inm, D.S. Bro. Woodland, D.T. Bro. Macfie, D.B. Bro. Butler, and the following delegates — Bros. W. G. Geddes, R. Stevenson, and J. Trueman, of Court Pride of Dunedin ; Bros. J. Melville, F. Rowland, and G. Growth, of Court Enterprise ; Bro. W. Fail, of Court Robin Hood ; Bros. J. Hay and T. Hore, of Court Pride of. the Leith ; Bros. W. Cairns and W. Hart, of Court Pride of Oamaru. The D.C.It, opened the meeting by reading the usual address. Auditor Bro. H. Youngman read the balancesheets and auditor's report for the past halfyear, and these were received and adopted. Funeral claims were passed for payment on account of two deceased brethren and one brother's deceased wife. These amounted to £45. A large amount cf correspondence was dealt with. The delegates approved of the amended bill relating to friendly societies brought down by Sir Julius Vogel. The following motion by Court Pride of Oamaru was carried — viz., to add to law 42 in the general laws of the district "But hi the
eyent of a brother being five years in the United Otago District, and having been suspended for not more than 52 weeks, and should death intervene, his widow, nominee, executor, or executrix shall at his death be entitled to receive the funeral allowance, also on account of his deceased wife, subject to the following conditions : That all arrears owing, and the sum of 10s as a fine, shall be deducted from the funeral allowance before paying the same to the member or his representatives as the case may be, half of the arrears, together with the fine, to be retained by the district, the other half to go to the brother's qwii court."
The District Secretary read the report of the committee appointed to consider the question of establishing juvenile Courts of Foresters in this district. They repommended to this meeting that permission be granted to courts to establish juvenile courts if so desired; each court to make its own laws for conducting same, subject to the approval of the District Executive. It was resolved that the next meeting^ of the District be held, at the request of Court Pride of the Lake, in the Foresters' Hall at Queenstown, in February 1886.
Nominations of officers were then proceeded with:— For D.C.R., "Bros. C. Williams, G. L. Asher, T. Ireland, J. Robertson ; for D.S.C.R., Bros. J. Butler, Morgan, T. Ireland ; for D.S., Bro. Woodlands; for D.T., Bro. Macfie; for 8..8., Bros. Taverner, Hare, Hanlan^ Fail and Melville.
Bro. W. Fail was elected auditor in place of Bro. G. L. Asher, retiring. , The meeting voted the sum of ten guineas to the Oamaru Hospital.
Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring auditor, also to Bro. Youngman for attending the meeting in place of Bro. Asher.
Other business having been got through, the D.C.R. closed the meeting in due form. The district officers and delegates were invited by the brethren of the local lodges to attend a banquet at Morkane's Queen's Hotel.
