Simon; who won the Ascot and Goodwood Cuds last year and had nover known defeat He and Sfc. Gatien had novor mat, and a struggle between tho two unbeaten faints was looked forward to with much interest.
St. Gatien has never been beaten, and his performances last year were of a memorable description. He Btartod the season by running a dead heat for the Derby with Harvester ; next carried off the Gold Vase at Ascot from Tr'ißtan, Corrie Roy, and Kinsky ; then lay by until the Csesarwitch came round, and won it with the great weight of Bst 101b up : won the Free Handicap Sweepstakes of 650 soys at Newmarket; and finally secured the Newmarket Jockey Club Cup of 380 aova.
Eole has been one of the best performers in America for two or three seasons past, having won many valuable races.
The Dutchman won the Newmarket Biennial Stakes of 517 soys last year, also the Hastings Handicap at Yarmouth.
