ChBISTCHUHOH V. DUNBDIN.
Play was resumed punctually at 7 o'clock oa Wednesday night, and the games have been so far keenly contested. Mr De Maus, of Port Chalmers, scored the first win at 2 o'clook oa Thursday morning, his opponent being Mr F. Guinness. Mr E. Harland won hiß game with Mr J. G. S, Scott, and Mr J. Mouat has won a hard-fought game from Mr A. M 0115 vier.
Wib, Bellingham, carpenter, Ponsonby, got out of bed at midnight and jumped down the well. His wife missing him, gave tho alarm to the neighbours, who grappled him up, but he was dead. He leaves two children. A verdiot of "Found drowned " was returned.
The Auckland branch of tbe Irish Land League, have contributed £213 to the general fund of the League, £100 to the payment of Irish members' fund, and £33 to tha A, M, Sullivan testimonial fund.
