Tristan is certainly one of the most wonderful horses of the time, and in no race has be displayed his quality to better advantage than in this one In 1882 he ran a dead heat for it with Thebais, and walked over after the stakes were divided ; in 1883 he won it right out : and now he has again tied for first place. Thiß was to be his last appearance on the turf, ancl he will retire to stud life covered with honours.
