GAELIC SOCIETY OF NEW ZEA-

The ordinary general meeting of this Society was held in the Odd-Fellows'Hall onWednesday . Mr M'Lauchlan, of Purakanui, was voted to the chair, and some 50 or GO members were present. The programme, which was a lengthy one, was greatly appreciated by all present, and,' to on the last occasion, was entirely carried out in the Gaelic language." Mr M'Leod was again to 'the front with his favourite songs, while the Society's "band" (Mr M'Fadyen) provoked the audience to encore him on several occasions. Messrs M'Millan and Cameron rendered several patriotic Gaelic songs. . The readings given by Mr Oormack were also much appreciated, and he agreed to give two popular readings at the next meeting of the Society, on the 7th prox. A good programme was arranged for that meeting.
