CRICKET. THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND.

London, July 31st.

The Australians commenced a match to-day at Liverpool against the Liverpool Club. The wicket was heavy owing to recent rains. The visitors went in first, and their innings closed for a' total of 240. The highest scorers wereGiffen (caught) 81, and Palmer (not out) 33. The attendance was very large.

August Ist, The cricket match between the Australian team and the Liverpool Club, which was to have been resumed to-day, has been postponed in consequence of heavy rain.
