THE CRISIS IN EGYPT.

London, July 31st. A regiment of Grenadier Guards embarked to-day for Egypt, and the Coldstream Guards do so to-morrow. The Household Cavalry have received orders to embark on Wednes August Ist. In the House of Commons to-day a resolution was passed requiring the Indian Government to defray the cost of the Indian expedition to Egypt, subject to the future decision of Parliament on tho question. Alexandria, July 31st. Admiral Seymour has abandoned the proposed bombardment of Aboukir by the British ironclads. , , Intelligence is to hand from Ismaiha, in the Suez Canal, that a large force of British marines has been landed there from H.M. troop-ship Orontes. A „ . August Ist. The Khedive has sent a communication to Admiral Seymour authorising the occupation of the Suez Canal by English forces. All the French war-vessels which have been stationed < here and at other Egyptian ports are now leaving. Constantinople, July 31st. M. Monon, the Russian delegate to the Conference, has declared that he will only attend the meotings for the purpose of discussing the question of the neutrality of the buez Canal. In consequence of the action ot the Russian [representative, the Conference is now considered to have terminated. Constantinople, August Ist. The Conference ot European Ambassadors, which decided to terminate its proceedings on the 31st ult. in consequence of the declaration of the Russian Plenipotentiary tbat he would only attend its meetings for the purpose of discussing the question of the neutrality of the Suez Canal, resumed its sittings to-day. The representative of Russia, it has transpired, has received fresh instructions from the Russian Government to rejoin the Conference and participate in its proceedings. It is understood that the Porte has now definitely decided to despatch a body of troops to Egypt, notwithstanding the statement that this course could only be adopted provided the British troops were withdrawn. Five thousand troops are under orders to embark to-morrow. Dervish Pasha will accompany the expedition.

London, August Ist, 4.10 p.m. It is stated that 2,000 Bedouins are encamped in the vicinity of Alexandria. Thera is still plenty of water in tho canal which supplies the city. The number of persons massacred m the m: terior is estimated at 500.
