WORKING MEN'S CLUB.

The half-yearly general meeting of the Workng Men's Club 'took place on the 22nd, and was attended by about 130 members. Mr W. B. M'lntcsh, the president, occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet were submitted to the meeting and adopted, The balancesheet, ending 31st March, showed the receipts as follows :— To balance -last audit, LlO3 16s 2<l ; refreshments, LIO7B 12s Id ; billiards, L 214 7s ; entrance fees, L 47 5s ; subscriptions, L 99 16s ; rents, &c, L 53 7s 9d ; and the expenditure L 1622 4s 7d (including L3OO, part payment of loan), leaving a credit balance of L 33 2s 6d.

The Committee's report was as follows :—: — Your Committee have much pleasure in presenting this their lislf-yoariy report and balance-sheet, and cmgratulate the members upon the satisfactooy financial position the Club has attained. It will be seen by the balance-sheet that your Committee has been enabled to pay £300 off the £2500 borrowed to erect the building (thereby saving £27 interest per annum), besides furnishing the reading and othor rooms, and attending to the comfort and. convenience of members generally. Your Committee regret that, owing to the heavy expenditure ia connection with the new building, they were unable to procure more books for the library, but trust that during the ensuing six months it will bo considerably augmented. The following officers were then elected :— President, A. D. Denovan ; Treasurer, Mr Wm. Woodland (re-elected); Committee, Messrs W. B. M'lntosh, W. Grasby, H. Spears, S. A. Davis, and T. Barnett ; , and Messrs W. Pride and F. H. Evans, auditors.
