PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
The annual meeting of the above Board was held on the 15th August at noon. All the members present, except Mr Dickson ; Mr W. A. Wilson in the chair. The annual accounts were laid before" the Board, and showed that the total receipts had been £1090 11s 7d, and the expenditure £950 0a 2d, to which has to be added £215 2s spent by the Board in removing the slips on county road, caused by the February floods ; so that the actual expenditure has exceeded the receipts by £74 10 a 7d. On the motion that the Chairman be re-elected, Mr Wilson declined the honour, but consented to act until the appointment of his successor. The Board then took up the ordinary business adjourned from last meeting. ' • Keso'ved that Mr W. Geary be appointed Treasurer, and that the Clerk' receive £10 per annum for doing the accountants' duties in connection therewith. Resolved that the Chairman make application to the Board's bankers for an' overdraft of £300, to meet outstanding liabilities. The consideration of the deviation through Mr Carmichael's property, Sandymount subdivision, was deferred until next meeting. ' Resolved that tenders be called for next meeting for metalling 20 chains of Larnach's Road. Clerk to make out specification and show the work. Resolved that the Board change its place of meeting to the Cemetery Reserve Office, Portobello, and that the Clerk, get the Board's papers and effects removed thereto. • Resolved that £2 be spent in repairing footpaths, Hooper's Inlet. Resolved that the Clerk be authorised to sign cheques in connection with ■ the Chairman of this Board. The Clsrk was instructed to make out and send an abstract of the annual accounts to the Otago Witness for publication. The following among other, amounts, jwere passed for payment :— Guthrie. and , Larnach, £6 16s lid ; Arthur Briscpe and Co. ; £15 12s 6d; MrGeo.J^ Clark;' £25 15s. ,' : ' ; A vote of thanks was passed to, the Chairman, Mr W. A. Wilson, for the, efficient manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of His office during the past year, and the same was ordered to be recorded on the minutes. The Board then adjourned to Saturday, Ist September next.
