RACING BLOOD IN GERMANY.
In the great game for turf supremacy between England and the Continent, Germany handles some good' cards, and in the following list of aires she either holds the animals themselves or else some worthy descendants of each. A glance at the string of names will show how well she has culled over the English preserves. There are Buccaneer, Cambuscan, Saunterer, D'Estournel, Blue Gown, Savernake, Blair Athol, Knight of the Garter, Hermit, Lord Clifden, Breadalbane, Cape Flyaway(by Flying Dutchman— Canezon), Ceylon, The Marquis, and many more, whose progeny won 700,000 marks last season in Germany alone. The four principal winners are — 1. Double Zero, a three-year-old, by Virgilius, from Olive, who won 45,000 marks, Virgilius being a son of Voltigeur, from Eclogue ; 2. Ehrenbogan, four years old, by D'Estournel, from Archereas, W3n 32,687£ marks (D'Estournel by Parmesan, from a Chanticleer mare) ; 3, Przedswit, four years, by Knight of the Garter, from Jewel, 24,500 marks (Knight of the Garter, by Prime Minister, from Rosa Bonheur) ; 4. EnlenBpragel, three years, by King of Diamonds, from Estrella, 20,635 marks (King of Diamonds, by King Tom, from Emerald) ; while for the present season of 1877 there are in training in various parts of Germany and Hungary the sons and daughters of Blinkhoolie, Daniel O'Rourke, Young Dutchman, and Fitzroland, in addition to those of the splendid list previously alluded to.
