FIGHT WITH A BULLDOG.

The Western Mail, a Cardifi paper, gives an account of a desperate struggle between a man and a bulldog. The tramp showed some reluctance to obey Jenkins's peremptory command, when the latter proceeded to take ofFthe muzzle from the dog's mouth. When Bennett saw this he ran away and climbed over a wall, but was followed by the ferocious brute and when jumping from the wall the dog jumped upon him and dragged him to the ground. Then commenced a desperate struggle between them, the dog making furious attempts to catch him by the throat. But bitten in several places as he was, and that most severely, he succeeded in parrying oft" the attempts upon him there. His legs, however, wore bleeding profusely from bites in the thigh and calf. At last the dog fixed its teeth in the thick part of the thigh, and for a long time defied all efforts to compel him to unloose them. Bennett's heart-rending cries brought several jjersons to the spot, who assisted Jenkins to pull oiF the dog It was discovered thai the log had several great gashes in it, and he was conveyed go the Pontypridd Union as quickly as possible, where he was attended by Dr Hopkins, who found that the leg was cut in 15 different places, some of the wounds being dangerous.
