Markets.
Witness o*tiu», Thursday Morning. Since our last, business has t)seu satisfactory. Tho arrival of so many vessels as groeteel tis yentonUy - the Lultorvvorth, Margaret (Ulbralth, and Warwickwill havo tho effect of rendering the markets rather full of goods. Yesterday (Tuesday) Messrs M'Lan. dre=H, ITepburn and Co., offered, at their rooms, thq

very inert, no inclination on the part of buyers to go bejond very limited purchases. The Carl has just arrived with another cargo ; also the Miss Kilmansegg. We can only repeat respecting oilmen's stores that rates are now ruling below what is remunerative — this applies almost without exception, but especially to pickles, capers, sauces, &c. Good sound Provincial butter shows a continued upward tendency. Hops remain depressed. In galvanised iron we note some movement extra to that indication of it lately alluded to ; sales have taken place this week at from £35 to £37. Quotations for flour show no change ; bakers' supply is dull ; shipping comparatively active— both Interprovincial and to Great Britain. Good milling wheat, old, is quoted at 4s 3d. Alteady there are evidences of the large quantities which will probably be shipped to England this year. Some tidy shipments have already been made. It is supposed that between flour and wheat there arc now afloat at Port Chalmers not under 1000 tons. Oats : The m rket wlut of old is from 3s 9d to 4s. We have not heard of »ny purchases of rew ; and it would be premature to speculate upon prices. It would greatly facilitate business, and be to themselves more beneficial, if fanners would improve upon their tendencies (as we hope they will this year), and not procrastinate, but accept of fair prices or reasonable offers ; and when they have done so that they would further deliver with all despatch. Grain is dpstined to be a great and increasing export to Great Britun, and growers must come to comprehend their part in maintaining and furthering it.
