WASTE LAND BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Land Board was held on Wednesday. There were present, the Chief Commissioner, Mr J. T. Thomson (in the chair), and Messrs Reid, s gate, and Hughes. * Messrs Conne_ and Moodie, on behalf of Mr Poynter, applied to have sketch of application for pre-emptive right, 640 acres on the run leased by him, approved of. Sanctioned. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr Edward Murphy, applied to purchase half of 1, block 111., Coast district. It was resolved that the land be fdvertised for sale as land of special value, and that valuation for improvements, if any, be allowed. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr John M'Farland, applied for saw- mill license for six-horse power engine, Bush Reserve, block XI., Glenkenich. The license was granted under usual regulations, at the rate of L 5 per horse power per annum. The application of Mr J. E. Atwood, to lease the Ferry Reserve, &c. , at Tois Tois, was referred to the Harbour Master to report thereon previous to au answer being given. A plan of portion of Beach reserve, adjoining blocks XIV. and XV. , Queenstown, was submitted. Application to purchase this land had already been made by persons living on it. The Board had no power to sell the land, it having been reserved by the Provincial Council, and was still so. The following applications to purchase agricultural leases were granted :—: — David Foray th — Sections 91, block 11., and 38, block 111. , Table Hill. Robert Forsyth— Sections 89 and 90, block 11 , Table Hill. Perer Robertson — Sections 121, 122, 129, 130, 131, 117, 118, 119, 120, block 11. , Tuapeka East. J. M. Nicholson — Sections 71, 73, 75, 70, 72, and 74, block 1., Tuapeka East. John Brown — Section 41, block V., Shotover. John Turner — Section 43, block V., sections 1, 2, 3, block II L, and 102, block V., Shotover. Edward Barrett — Sections 23 and 24, block 11., Shotovei. George Barrett — Sections 25 and 26, block 11 , Shotover. Mr G. F. Reid appeared for Messrs Brown, Turner, and E. and G. Barrett. The following applications were declined :—: — Robert Ferguson— Section 42, block V., Table Hill. William Hodgson — Section 88, block It, Table Hill. Abel Kerr— Section 9, block V., Table Hill. Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Mr Thomas Everitt, applied for a lease of section 2 of 14, block VI., Oamaru district. An annual license at the rate of L] per annum was granted, the Government reserving its right to use the quarry. Messrs M 'Lines and M'Lean applied for protection to prospect for slate at Preservation Inlet. Protection was granted for six months. The application of Mr John Clymer to purchase section 3, block LIIL, Tokomairiro district, was considered, and it was resolved that he be allowed to purchase the area of that section recommended by the Warden. Mr Jesse Ally applied for a coal lease at the Forkburn, near Cromwell. It was resolved, on a survey being furnished by the district surveyor, that a lease should be granted on the usual terms. Mr W. S. Douglas, for Mr H. Raeburn, applied to purchase a piece of rural land (situate in block VII., Anderson's Bay district. As the land was wanted to complete a property, the application was agreed to. Mr M'Kenzie applied to have section 33, block XXXIII , Palmerston, withdrawn from sale, and added to the Cemetery reserve. It was resolved that the land be withdrawn from sale. The plan of the township of Ettrick (Bengerburu) was submitted for approval, and approved of. It was resolved that the land be advertised for sale at the usual upßet prices.
