Markets.

Witness Office, Wednesday Evening.

There has been but little move in the produce market during the past week, and the transactions going forward have been of quite an uninteresting character. As has been the base during the last month or more, the only grain in demand has been wheat, the value bf which has kept well up, in consequence of. the supply being very moderate. .Farmers' parcels have been placed at 5s 6d, delivered in town ; and at about this value the* market is likely to be maintained for the present. Oats have been dull. The present demand is | only for town consumption ; but notwithstanding that oata have been nearly cleared out in the chief growing districts, there is a sufficient supply in Dunedin and the neighbourhood to keep prices from rallying. - The value 'quoted by dealers is 2s lOd to 3s ; the latter for very prime lots. Barley remains without any amendment, and holders find • .it almost impracticable . to place lots. The nominal value for finest desoription is 3s to 3s 3d. The rates which ordinary samples are offering for are below ibis. The demand for flour has been light this week, and no business has been noticeable, except for mere ourrent wants. The mill quotations are Ll3 10s, steady. Bran is quoted at L 6 l'Ofl, and oatmeal at LlB. For provisions there is a tolerably good inquiry, the supply of good colonial being

f jnat now more limited. Good northern batter realises lOd to lid. Shipments of oheese are worth BJd to 9ds and hams and baoou (well oured lots), 9id to lOd, hams alone being worth Is.
