Markets.

Witness Oittcb, Wednepday Evening.

The produce market stil maintains the quiet appear mcc noted at the close of the preceding w ek— very little going forward, except for current requirements. There has been continued enquiry for goo 1 wheats, and very scanty supplies of this grain coming to hand ; good grinding parcels reilise 53 6d, the value b*-ing steady at about this rate. Since our last no ice, oa's have been easier, and though there are no large supplies of this grain in reserve, the absence of any outside demand h <s exercised a depressing effect on the value ; quotations are now made by dealers at 2s lOd to 3s, without any immediate prospect of alteration. Barley, as noted before, is not in demand, and holders of parcels, though offering lots at low rates, are unable to effect sales. The nominal quotation for good malting descriptions is 3s 3d, for inferior samples no value can be fix-d In fli.ur, there has been a mo'erately good trade doing, but not in large lots. At the mills prices still remain at Ll3 10s, any lots placed at a less rate being by out side holders, who have )>een desirous to realise. Bran is quoted at L 5 10s ; and oatmeal at LlB b'or provisions there has been a fair demand, prime parcels of Northern butter are worth 11 Jd to Is; cheese (Aka roa), has been quitted at 8d to B£d, the supply light ; good parcels of colonial hams, Is ; and bacon, 9£d to 10d ; none of these items are in very good supply at present.
