SHAG VALLEY.

The second annual ploughing match of the above district came off on Friday, the 17th inst., in a paddock belonging to Mr Amyes. The weather was most favorable, and the consequence was a capital muster of competitors, and a very large gathering of the settlers, as well as a number of strangers. The land selected was a beautiful level piece, and was considered to be lin very fair condition ; tk a shade too wet" was the only complaint we heard. About nine o'clock some eighteen ploughs were oh the ground, and by half-past nine, they started. The following are the names of competitors and owners of teams : OWNERS. PLOUGHMEN. Thos. A dinner took place at the Palmerston Hotel, at which 80 sat down.
