There is a decided improvement in .busine-s, but in consequence of lirni ed supplies, there have been no heavy operations. I'ui'ehswrs of flour have been anxious y awaiting furtlier advices, and sale? are effected in very small lot.-s'only. Good colonial butter is very scarce, and the small parcels coming to hand by Northern steamers, are readily disposed of. Although we q-iote the price at 2s Id to 2s 2d per 1 • still, more could be obtained for a really prime sample. Prices of other articles fully maintained. The following are the prices of leading articles: — Adelaide flour, £C 8 ; Chilian £-21 to £22 10s; Otago, £18 10s to £21. Medium tea, in bond, per chest, £7 to £8 8s ; do. do., half-chest (scarce), £3 to £t ; good, do., per chest, £7 to £8 10s; do. do 'half-chest, £3 10s to £4. Sugar, in bond: Mauritius, Ist white, £45: 2nd do., £42; first counter, £33 to £35 ; second do.. £31 to £32; Company's Ist white, £46; 2nd do., £43 to £44; Crushed loaf, 6fd. Spirits, in bond : Brandy, Martell's or Henuessy's, 8s 9d to 9s per gallon ; Martell's, case, full contents, 313; Hennessy's, do, 325. Rum, 4s 6d to ss, according to proof; Geneva, J.D.K.Z., per case, 13s to 14s. Whisky, per fallon, 3s 91 to 4s 6d ; do., case, 12a 6i per ozen. Old Tom, per case, 16s to 16s. Ale, in bulk, new brew £6 10s to £8 ; Stout, I2s 6d to 14s, according to brand. Aromatic tobacco may be quoted at Is 9d to 2s 9d ; dark, at Is 3d to 2s 6d; and tens' at Is 6d to 2s 3d. Butter: Cjrk, good, none; Colonial, 2s Id to 2s 2d. Cheese: English, none; Colonial, Is 2d to Is 3d. Candles : Full weights, Is 2d to Is 2\&. Soap : Liverpool, no demand ; Sydney, none ; Hobson's Bay, No. 1, none; Dunedin, 40s. Coey's and Sinclair's hams, Is lOd to 2s — scarce. Bacon from recent shipments, nominally at Is 10J to 2s Pickles, pints, 15s to 17s (tcaree) ; salad oils, pints, 17s ; half-pints, 103 6d ; jams, lib, Colonial, 11s; English, 12s 9d ; sauces, halfpints, 10s 6d to 12s ; castor ©ils, pints, 12s ; half-pints, 7s. DUJfEDIN PRODUCE REPORT. March 23, 1866. Mr C. W. Loreszen, produce salesman, Jetty-street, reports : — Business has improved a little since last week, orders having been received from the West Coast for oats and potatoes ; and by neyt week the market will be better supnlied, as the farmers have partly finished with the harvest. The following are latest quotations : — Wheat is brought freely in, and the price i 3 declining. — 6s for cash, and 6s 64 3 months bill, per bushel. ! Flour. -Colonial, £18 10s; best town, £21 per ton. Sharps.— £9 per ton. Bran. — 2s 3J per bushel. Barley.— ss 3d to 53 61 per bushel. Maize. —6s 6d to Gs 9d per bushel. Oats.— Old, 4s 6d ; new, 3s 6d per bushel. Hay (Oaten).— £4 10s to £5 per ton. Rye Grass Hay and Clov2R.— £4 los per ton. Chaef.— None in the market. £6 per ton. Straw (Oat and Wheat). —£-2 per load. Potatoes. — White, £5103; Dements, £Q 10s per ton. Rye Grass Seed. — 6s to 7s 6d per bushel. Corn Sacks (New). -203 (2nd) 183 per dozen RETAIL PRICES. March 23, 1866. Dairy Produce. — Bacon, Is. 6d.to Is. 9J.; butter, fresh, 25.; ditto, salt, Is. 6d. to 25. ; cheese, Colonial, Is. 6d. ; ditto, English, Is. 6d. ; eggs, fresh, 3s ; ditto, imported, none ; ham, Is 6d to 2s ; milk, 8d per quart. Meat. — Beef, roasting and steaks, lOd to Is per lb; boiling, 7J; mutton, 61 tolOd; pork and veal, 10J to Is. To hotels, 8d all round. Poultry. — Fowls, 6s. to 93. per couple; ducks, 10s to 12s per pair ; geese, 12* to 15s each ; turkeys, 15s to 255; rabbits, 4b. to 10s. per pair; pigeons, 4<i. to 63. per pair.
