The voting for the election of Superintendent for the Province took place yesterday, and it haa undoubtedly resulted in favor of Mr Thomas Dick. There was a good deal of excitement in the town during the day, and shortly after 4 o'clock Mr John Gillies, the Returning Officer, declared the result of the polling at the Court House to have been— for Mr Dick, 460 ; and 251 for Mr E M'Glashan. We subsequently ascertained that at the second polling-place for the City, the Schoolhouse, North Dunedin, Mr M'Glashan had a majority of 18 ; the number for him being 58 as against 40 for Mr Dick. Upon the whole, as regards the City, however, there is a clear majority for Mr Dick of 191. .Returns which we obtained dnring the evening, have increased that majority to 359 — the numbers shewn being for Mr Dick 737; and for Mr M'Glashan 378.
