DIOCESAN SYNOD. npilE BISHOP OF CHRISTCHURCH -»• gives notice that the first meeting of the synod of the diocese will be held at Christchurch on the 11th day of Augu9t next. The Synod will consist of three orders — 1. The Bishop 2. The Licensed Clergy 3. The Representatives of the Laity, 19 members. Any lay commuunicant of the diocese may be elected to serve as a synodsman, or representative of the laity. Every layman of the age of 21 years and upwards who shall sign a declaration in the form following " I do hereby declare that I am a member of the United Church of England and Ireland in New Zealand," will be entitled to vote at the election of synodsmen for the parochial district in which he is resident. Voting papers, and further information may be obtained by application to* any clergyman, or churchwarden, or returning officer. June 17, 1859. SUBSCRIBERS to the Church of England !k?
