GREAT RACEHORSE DEAD. (Published in '•The Timj~"). LONDON, Aug. 24. " lateen of the turf," the famous mare Pretty i'o'llv has died in Ireland, ! aged 3U. she was one of the best racehorses of all time, and won 22 races of the value of £37,21)5. She was only twice beaten. The great marc, who produced her last foal in 1924, foaled many winners. U.-r eyesight was lately impaired and her teeth were useless. Nevertheless she remained the admiration of all in the paddock. Pretty Polly was a chestnut by Galliuule from Admiration. She won nine races as a two-year-old, for one of which she started at 33 to 1 on. No man: ever captured the imagination of the British public more. She ran so true to form that she started at nubstantiaWidds or. for the One Thousand Guineas, the Oaks, the St. Lcger, arid tie- Coronation Cup, all of which she '.vim in PK.I-1. Se was bred and raced by the late Major Kustace Loder, and had 24 races for 22 wins and two seconds. She was at odd- on for nearly every race. At I the stud she produced several winners, I though none nearly so good as herself.
