Sydney on Tuesday, will plav tho first match of the Australian itinerary against Hew South Wales to-mor-row. AUCKLAND v. MANAWHENUA. Kugby enthusiasts attended at the Palmerston North Showgrounds in large numbers on Wednesday to witness the ‘ representative game between the Auckland touring team and Mumiwkenua. It was confidently expected that Auckland would be much too good for Manawhenua, but the wearers of the blue, red and white jerseys confounded the critics‘and put up a good fight, going down by 12 points to 21 and colours flying. The Manawhenua pack gave a great exhibition and were superior during the greater part of the game, dominating the play in the second, spell. The Auckland backs were faster than their opponents and were able to make better use of their opportunities. Auckland were minus several of their best players.
