BEE-KEEPING.
ADDRESS BY MR. ROBINSON. Under the auspices of the Horowhenun branch of the National Beekeepers’ Association a well-attended meeting was held in the Druids’ Hall last night. Alt. .Hind, president, occupied the chair. Air. D. Robinson, Government Apiary Inspector, gave an interesting and instructive address, illustrated with lantern slides. A great deal of information of a technical nature was given, and tests also much of interest to the general public. The Argentine Government. were trying to popularise the use of honey as a food, and a slide was exhibited of one of the posters used. Two am! a quarter pounds of honey were equal in food value (o 50 eggs at much

The slides were taken in New Zealand between New Plymouth and Wellington, and ti view was shown of she highest apiary in New Zealand, •*dW feet above sea level on Ml. Lgmor.it., Dr. Banting, the discoverer of insulin, was endeavouring to discover jhc secret of the royal jelly fed to green bees, with the view of experimenting o„ children. He believed that ii the secret could bo discovered human beings would grow to ten feet high and live 200 years. The food value of honey was not realised by the public. Where doctors had ab.-olutelv forbidden sugar to children, the children had thrived on honey. At tie conclusion of the lecture a resolution was carried protesting against the , Government abolishing part time inspectors. On the motion of .Mr. Collins, seconded by Mr. Pole, a hearty vote of thank* to the lecturer was carried by acclamation.
