. I . __ — — , — _^_ The monthly meeting, held m the Council Chambers on Friday, ( 19th April, was attended by Crs. H. Gar-den-^(Chairman), T. A. Buckingham, W. J. A. McGregor, W. B. Hbpcroft, F. J. Linscott, S. Fowle; H. F. Blatch, W. T. James and L Cody. W. Crowther and 18 others, Orepuki, applied to have Mum'ford road, leading- off ' Fortune' road, formed and , opened up lor traffic. The petitioners trusted this work would be done while, the weather was good. — Left to . Member and Engineer to attend to. . S. Pollard, Cblac, drew attention to the state of outlet to Lake George, which needs cleaning, and to the work of the -Wakapatu Mining Company's operations damming the Abater back on his property.— Left to Member and Engineer to attend to. The Public Trustee; '■ Invercargill, executor ,m the Estate of James Frew, asked that the road giving access to the property from the Main Tuata-pere-Orepuki road be attended to.— / Government grant to be applied for. ; Commissioner of Crown Lands," Invercargill, wrote m , reference to gravelling the remaining 3£ miles of Ward road, Fairfax. The work is estimated to cost £2250, and the writer wished to know if the Council, would find quarter cost if the remainder wa!s ,arranged by the Public- Works Department and further loading on the" land. Held over till next meeting. . , F. Bpwden, Irivercargill,. wrote, m reference, to his previous application to have outfall for sections 30 .v.and 31,-. Jacobs River Hundred, Colacr cleaned oiit. The lower owner had been given six months to do the work, but nothing was done, and the writfer applied to the Council to use itdi powers under the Drainage Act.— Writer to inform the Council who the owner now is. The Clerk, Otautau River . Board, applied for the 'right to deposit spoil, ' mostly gravel, as taken out by the dredge on roadline along channel through Mr Norman's property.— Left: to Engineer, with power to act. T" Genge, Wairio, asked that .the gravelling of the last 10 chains of road m Mr Ford's contract be completed this season.— Further grant to be applied for to use truck gravel and work done m the spring. A. Boucher,- Ohai, asked that the public drain running through his pro.perty be attended to as the Inspector was complaining about its state. — Left to Member and Engineer to deal with. .' . ' J. L. Birtles and Wm.Y Ramsay, Nightcaps, appeared as a deputation to 'the ,Council to ask for better access to their properties m the shape, of a stock bridge over the Aparima river. They offered to do the carting, make the approaches, and assist .the'' Council all they could, as m the meantime they have no access at all m times of, flood. — Left to Member and Engineer to inspect and report. . J. A. Pears, Nightcaps, applied for .permission id" erect a motor gate at 1 north boundary of Etalvale Run adr - joining Durirobin with Mr W. Bona, and a similar gate at Etalvale south boundary with Mr Wm. Ramsay.-—Per-mission, granted, subject to approval of Engineer and during the pleasure of the Council! 1 R. Key, Town Clerk, Lumsden, applied for assistance from the Council ' towards the. cost (£80) of buying a piece of land for a new cemetery.— ■ Held over for , Clerk to' look into the, J matter. F. Ridder, Tuatapere, asked that the Government grant for Merrivale i Te Tua road be spent.—W riter. and ■ those interested to apply to the Minister for Lands for a deviation of the present road before the grant is spent. P. H. Morey, District Engineer, N.Z.
