Otautau School Committee.
The monthly meeting of the Committee, adjourned from Monday, owing to the holiday, was held on Thursday, and attended by Messrs Mills (chairman), Gunn, fSeatter, Bulman and Fisher.
The head teacher's report showed no lapses m attendance, such as required the truant inspector's attention. A request for coal for school use was left m the hands of the secretary to attend to. The roll showed 164 as registered, and .the attendance for tbe month of March had been 138.
The secretary was instructed to write to the Education Board, making request to have blinds placed In the infant room.
The chairman reported receipt from tho Board of cheques for £10, being balance of grant for asphalting, £3 for half cost of range at residence, and £7 Is usual quarterly allowance.
The sub-committee reported that tho contractor was making satisfactory progress with his contract for filling iv the playgrohnd.
It was resolved to remove the old fence facing Aldorley street, and that it be offered to the contractor at present at work m satisfaction of his removing it. Tho sport?, which had been postponed, wore fixed to take place on Wednesday, 17fch inst., on the 'Keoreafcion Grounds, to commenco at 2 :>0 •>. iii., up till which hour children tire to attend school.
