Social at Waikoura,
(Contributed.) A very enjoyable evening was spent at the Waikoura school on Friday evening last, the occasion being the anniversary social of the Methodist Church services. Quite a large party journeyed from Otautau, and made up for the number who were away on holiday. The night was beautifully fine, although the weather m the morning was far from promising. The programme .submitted was a most excellent one, and all the arrangements w^re carried through vary successfully, greatly to the satisfacfaction of the chief workers — Mis Harrington, Mrs James' Coster, Miss Miller, and a:l who had assisted them. The following ladies and gentlemen took part : — Mesdames Rankin and Brbkenshire (Invercargill), Mr Sharp (Owaka), Misses Leo,Sheddon, Miller, Glen, Ramsay and Mrs Brooker, j 'Messrs F. Duncan, Edwards, R. Walker, Brooker and Colletfc. Thirteen solos, three duets, two pianoforte solos, one recitation, and one whistling solo were given. The Waikoura Church choir gave the opening anthem, and the Otautau Church choir 'the closing piece. There being no charge for admission, a collection was taken up. and liberally responded to. Tasty refreshments were lavishly dispensed. Hearty thanks to the helpers, proposed by the Rev. Wm. Beckett, and the benediction brought an evening to a close that is to-day a pleasant memory.
