Otautau Young Hen's Club.
For some time past, several of i the young men of this town have ' thought it advisable to try and provide some kind of recreation for the winter evenings, and ac- ! cordingly, on Thursday evening ! last,, a meeting was held m the . ante-room of ihe Otautau Town < Hall to discuss ways and means of ; bringing this about. Mr G. Boss ; ] waflWQ.tad to the chair, and briefly j 1 explained the ol.jecfc of the meeting. ; It; was proposed by Mr E. i Thompson that a club be formed, ' . and ;that it be , called " The Otau- ] ■* tau : ; Young Men's Club." Mr i ThotnpsW stated that the club j would he. for the mutual improve- , ment of the young men of tho \ district during the winter evenings. , :
' — Sficmulp.d l»y Mr W. Swap ami carried. Messrs F. B. King, J. ]*rn.ss, Swhau and several others spoke m favour of; the project, and eventually a provisional committee, consisting of Messrs Thompson, Swap, G-or.lon, Swhan and Bras?, was formed to make enquiries re the running of other clubs, draw up rules, etc., this committee to report to a meeting to be held next Monday evening.
The chairman was accorded a vote of tjaanks, and ths meeting adjourned. /
