PLAYREADERS’ CLUB
“AND NO BIRDS SING” WITTY, AMUSING PLAY —— - sn On Monday Bth, the usual club reading was held in the Parish Hall, when readers in “And No Birds Sing” (Jenny Laird and John Fernald) gave an excellent account of themselves. Those who attended in spite of the wild weather conditions were rewarded by the extra vim and sparkle put into this witty and amusing play. The sympathetic co-operation between readers and audience, always essential lo good work, has become an accepted and highly valued part of the club’s integrity, and on this last occasion, the appreciation of the audience was a warming response to the work of both readers and producer. Those taking part were Mesdames Mickelson, MoLaugKlim Jenkin, Gifford and Miss G. Frechtling, anl Messrs. Oliver, Worthington, Jillett, Somervell, Warren and G. Hughson. Mrs. Dunn was producer. The next reading, “The Bells Ring” will not take place until September 12th—the second Monday in September—when a good reception for this new play is anticipated.
