LOCAL CLUB'S SUCCESS

MATCH WITH MANAIA Good golfing weather was eu - joyed over the week-end when a team from Manaia paid a visit to Opunake for an all-day match. The local players were in capital form and registered a win ->f 9 games to four. At the (dose of play, Mr A. McDiarmid, on behalf of the visitors, congratulated the Opunake Club on its success and thanked members {or the enjoyable match and hospitably extended. Mr (l. Mclvor in reply, said they looked forward to inter-club matches, especially the visit of the Manaia Club.

The results of the day's play were as under:— Morning.

Cundy and Fraser beat Hobday and Walker 7 and G. Mclvor and Watt lost to Instone and Gardner 2 down. Feaver and Burton beat Christie and Spooner 4 and 2.

Hammond and Harding all square with Croinpton and W. Evan.

Sharp and Lewis beat Scinucll and Meuli 7 and 6.

Other games for the cup are requested to be finalised as early as possible.
