ALSATIAN DOGS

(To the Editor). Sir, —In eVery paper throughout New Zealand we daily read of the ravages caused by Alsatian dogs and the item regarding the holding xip of a family at Napier emphasises the inherent danger of this breed. No one cap .regard the matter with equanimity, for there is no doubt these dogs possess the characteristics t»f the.wolf to a great degree. In the public interest strong action must be taken and the present specimens of the breed in New Zealand should be sterilised and further importations prohibited. I can envisage a few units getting into the wayback, breeding and ravaging the country in “packs.. Some may ridicule the idea, but it is more than a possibility; it is a distinct probability, am, gtc., v SAFETY FIRST. Opunake, 18th. July, 1934.
