MILK SUPPLIERS v. J. C. GEORGE.

(to the. editor.) Sir, —The proposal that we should pay “half-cartage ” is, in itself, an impoitant matter to us ; as we might find

ourselves at the end of the year, when money is scarce and mud plentiful—when roads are wet and cows are dry —with no cash coming to us for the last month or two’s milk. But the condition lately annexed to this proposal makes it worse : “If the business is profitable.” I submit that we cannot admit any interest in its profits, 1 st as quasi partners we should be made responsible for its losses. Further, if our payments are to be dependent upon the profitable conduct of the business, we should certainly claim to have a voice in its management. We must look after the engine and see that the plant is in good order; we must be consulted on the appointment of the managers; we shall want to know, you know, why the refrigerators are not set up; we shall also request the books of the Company to be forwarded to our private residences that we may see how profits are looking from time to time. We shall make things boom in these well-managed factories then, no doubt! But, “ Let the cobbler stick to his last.” Wo have nothing to do with the losses of the Company until we go shares also in the profits.—l am, Ac., Milk Supplier. Elthamßoad, August 25,1894.,
