AUTHORITIES SEIZED BY THE STRIKERS. t Washington, July 4. The strikers captured a posse of 250 marshals and 75 sheriffs' deputies, who had been sent to Blue Island to rescue captured trains. The strike is acute in the Western States, and, despite the active efforts of the troops to raise a blockade, the railway strikers occupy the strategic points of the railway system in Pittsburg and the .Western Pacific, and forbid the movi'ng of trains. The strikers have wrecked many cars, and have destroyed a considerable length of permanent way. A meat famine is imminent in towns on the Atlantic seaboard, as the grain and cattle trades are at a standstill. Many factories are closing for want of coal. The strikers are endeavoring to involve the Eastern States in.the present dispite, so a 3 to secure the universal stoppage of traffic. The whole of the Federal army has been placed at the disposal of the judges in order to enable them to enforcs order.
