A reminder is given of the entertainment in connection with the Paeroa Methodist Church that is to be held in the Criterion Concert Hall this evening.

Intending passengers to Auckland should note that the time of departure of the s.s. Waimane from Paeroa to Auckland on Saturday next has been postponed to 11 p.m.

There was a good attendance at the Choral Hall on Monday evening, when a lecture on no-license and national prohibition was delivered by Rev. R. B. S. Hammond. The chair was occupied by Rev. G. W. Pittendreigh, and the lecturer was accorded an attentive hearing.

We are advised by the secretaries to the T. E. Taylor Memorial Fund that all subscription lists, whether used or unused, should be returned to the treasurer (Mr C. E. Salter, Chi istchnrch) in order that the fund may close not ater than the 20th inst.

. An interesting address on " Nature's Noblemen " was ■delivered by Pastor Clark in the Druids' Hall, Paeroa, last night. Rev. Jas. Lowery presided, and there.was a fair attendance, all present spending a pleasant evening.

On our fourth page to-day appears an advertisement by Win. Holds worth and Sons, Ltd., footwear specialists, of Victoria Street, Auckland. This firm makes a specialty of sporting footwear, of which it has a very large assortment.

At the Choral Hall, Paeroa, to-morrow evening, Mr H. M. Fitzgerald will deliver an address on " Social Evolution." Mr Fitzgerald is described as " the most eloquent Socialist orator in the Southern Hemisphere," so that the address should prove an interesting one.

Giving evidence before Mr A. H. An extraordinary sequel is reported in connection with a recent wedding between the members of two well-known Sydney families. The bridal pair went to the Blue Mountains for their honeymoon, and spent a happy time. Returning to Sydney last week the bride was immediately removed to a private hospital, where she was operated on for appendicitis. Her condition was serious. In the meantime the officiating clergyman was also attacked by the same complaint and was operated on, and, two of the guests who were present at the wedding were also under the care of doctors suffering in a similar manner.
