A shooting competition for the cup presented to the Ohinemuri Bifle Volunteers (No I Company) by, Mr 0. H. Rhode* was held on Saturday at the rifle range at Paoroa. The cud to be won outright h«4 to be won twico in mocomon or three times at intervals. Sergeant Shaw was the 1 holder prior to Saturday's competition, when Private Hatton, who has bew shooting so consistently lately, again made top score. The ranges were SOO, 500, and 700 yards, and the number of shots at each range seven (with two optional sighters). The scores registered by the competitors on Saturday are as follows;—

On Saturday next a match will take at Paeroa between teams from the No. 1 and No. 3 Ohinemuri Bifles. Each team will consist often men, and as the rivalry between the two companies in shooting matters is very keen, the match is creating a considerable amount of interest. The Paeroa ladies intend providing afternoon, tea on the range. The team to represent the No. 1 Ohinemuri Bifles will be selected from the following r- Captain Hubbard, Color-Sergeant Andrews, Sergeant Kenny, Sergeant Shaw, Corporal Dennerley, Corporal Ogden, Private Boache, Private Thomson, Private Hatton, Private F. Moore, and Private J. Hubbard. •

In connection with the half-company match held at Paeroa recently, ten prizes of five shillings each were given by a shooting enthusiast to those who made the greatest addition to their scores in the previous halfcompany match. The generosity of the donor was greatly appreciated by the volunteers, and although the name of the giver is not stated the members of the company have a pretty good idea who it is.
