TE AROHA SHOOTING CASE.
The young man, Archibald McKee, who created a sensation in Te Aroha by shooting at Mr Clough, the local postmaster, on the 21st July last, was arrested at the Thames on Friday last on a#charge of attempted murder, brought up before the Police Court on Saturday, and remanded to Auckland. It will be remembered that when the incident referred to took place, McKee was said to be of unsound mind, and consequently was committed to the Avondale Asylum; but he has since been released, and this coming to the knowledge of 'the police, he was arrested as above stated, at the house of one of his relatives, with whom he has been staying since Monday last. Very little is known as yet as to the actual basis of the charge. At the Auckland Police Court on Monday afternoon 'Archibald McKee was charged with attempting to shoot Thomas Clough at Te Aroha. Mr McA ister appeared for the Crown and Mr Cotter for accused's friends. After considerable argument accused was rflmanded till the 28th inst., bailbeing allowed.
