WHANGAREI HEADS FIELD.
PACIFIC CLIFFS. Work is being pushed on vigorousv on this property, and the 'great. Cliffß (400 feet) lode has been traced inland for half-a-mile, and trenched across in a number of places. Assays of the stone show it to be bullion-bearing throughout. Next week, a party of experts visit the property, including the New South "Wales geologist and metallurgist, Rev. J. Campbell, M.A. TBE BEITISH. Mr A. Gh French, the engineer and metallurgist in charge of the • British. Coy's, works has arrived from Auckland, and proceeded to the mine to start the new plant and personally supervise the trial treatment of ore by the hypo-leaching process. ISSUING SCBIP CERTIFICATES. The question of issuing scrip certl' - ficates in mining companies is claiming considerable attention just now. Both Brokers' Associations are strongly in favor of the proposal, and it has been decided that a Joint Committee of the Associations confer with legal managers on the subject. Circulars have been sent to all legal managers to meet the: Associations on Monday next at 10.50 a.m. to talk over the matter. The Council of the Chamber of Mines.have also had the matter under consideration lately, and it is almost certain that at no distant date this very desirable reform will be accomplished.
