BOMB IN AIRLINER

Watchmaker Sentenced To Death CANADIAN TRAGEDY SEQUEL NZPA—Copyright Rec. 11 p.m. OTTAWA, Dec. 13. Genereux Ruest, a crippled 54-year-old watchmaker, was sentenced at Quebec today to be hanged. He was convicted of “ deliberately helping ” a jeweller, Albert Guay, to construct and place a time bomb in an air liner to murder his (Guay’s) wife in September, 1949. Besides Mrs Guay, 22 other persons were killed in the disaster. Guay' was sentenced last month to be hanged, but his execution was stayed so he could be a witness at Ruest’s trial. Ruest admitted that he made the time bomb for Guay but pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
