Heavy seas have caused considerable erosion at the beach and below the esplanade at St. Clair, and steps to halt the damage were started yesterday by the Works Department of the City Council. The photographs show the broad span of the beach on which erosion took place this week as a result of heavy seas, and in the lower picture the slabs of concrete kerbing which are being used to form a protecting wall about 4ft to sft high, are seen being placed in position by men of the department’s staff.
